JOB VACANCY: APUNE Executive Director position

Part-Time Position, 20 Hours Per Week

APUNE, the oldest association in Europe dedicated to American university programs abroad, is seeking an Executive Director. We invite all qualified candidates to explore this unique opportunity.

Since its founding in 1968, APUNE has played a vital role in strengthening U.S.-Spain educational ties and fostering meaningful intercultural experiences for countless students from U.S. university programs in Spain.

The ideal candidate will guide APUNE's mission of facilitating U.S.-Spain educational partnerships and supporting American study-abroad programs in Spain. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director is responsible for managing and representing the Association and reports directly to the APUNE Executive Committee. The APUNE Executive Committee oversees the performance of administrative staff and assigns responsibilities to meet the Association's primary objectives, including administrative procedures with public and private organizations. 

The APUNE Executive Director is the liaison for APUNE with the European Association of Study Abroad (EUASA), which comprises several European national associations, of which APUNE is a prominent member. The Executive Director will be expected to participate in EUASA, which may include event planning and efficient communication with APUNE members regarding activities, opportunities for involvement, and initiatives of interest sponsored by EUASA. Working closely with the APUNE Coordinator, the Executive Director provides supervision, strategic guidance, and support to ensure that the Coordinator's work aligns with the Association’s objectives and priorities.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS 

• Minimum of Master’s degree (M.Sc. or MA), preferably PhD. 

• Bilingual (Spanish/English). 

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience, including at least two years in a leadership role managing teams or strategic initiatives. 

• Experience in teaching is highly valued.
