The Washington University in St. Louis Program in Spain aims at improving students' Spanish fluency and deepening their understanding of Spanish culture.
Depending on their majors, participants enroll in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid or Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where they take both regular courses and courses specific for international students (EH or DiLe). In addition, they must enroll in a Culture and Civilization class and are invited to field trips and cultural events.
The Washington University Program in Spain offers exceptional opportunities for students to improve their Spanish while also taking coursework towards majors in a broad range of academic areas. WashU Program in Spain partners with two of Madrid’s strongest public universities in order to allow students to study alongside Spanish students in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Engineering while at the same time taking a core Spanish Culture and Civilization course and a Spanish language course to build linguistic and cultural proficiency. Outside of the classroom, students live with Spanish hosts and have the opportunity to pursue extracurricular interests through either university or community activities.
